Baptism
Through Baptism, God enables us to participate in his life in Jesus Christ and makes us his children. It is through this sacrament that we receive the Holy Spirit and become members of the People of God, of the Body of Christ, which is the Church. Baptism becomes our commitment to grow in this new life and to strive to acquire spiritual maturity. By baptism, God purifies us from sin.
Baptism is the sacrament of faith which has the Risen Christ as its source, and it is the offer of salvation for all people. Intimately linked to Confirmation and to Eucharist, Baptism is, with these two sacraments, Christian Initiation. The child is baptized in the faith of their parents, godparents and of the Church.
Parents are responsible for bringing their child to the Sacrament of Baptism as soon after birth as possible. Except in case of necessity, the church is the usual place of baptism.
In order that a child be baptized, it is necessary that the parents consent, or at least one of them, or someone legally standing in their place, and that there is reasonable hope that the child will be brought up in the Catholic Faith.

First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
For the administration of the Eucharist to children, it is required that they have sufficient knowledge and careful preparation so that they can understand the mystery of Christ according to their capacity, and can receive the Lord with faith and devotion.
The first celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Eucharist for all children will ordinarily take place in the third grade. First reception of the Eucharist is to be preceded by the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
If you are an adult needing to celebrate your first reconciliation and/or first Holy Communion please contact our parish office.
Confirmation
Those who have been baptized continue on the path of Christian Initiation through the Sacrament of Confirmation. In this sacrament, they receive the Holy Spirit whom the Lord sent upon the apostles on Pentecost. (Order of Confirmation #1)
Confirmation preparation if one of many opportunities for ongoing faith formation in the life of young people. It is the obligation of parents to see that their children continue to participate in the catechesis and other faith formation offered by the parish throughout their high school years (grades 9-12). The norm in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe is for Confirmation preparation to be a minimum of two-year formation program that is made up of the following phases: Learner Phase (Year 1) and Disciple in Training Phase (Year 2).
